Ghostland Observatory tonight @ The Cabooze

I caught these guys live a couple years back at Lollapalooza and can tell you from experience, they put on a great show. It’s a Saturday night, go, live a little.

Tonight, Dethklok (of Metalocalypse fame) play at Roy Wilkins’ with Mastodon and some other bands. The show was at the Myth, but with the whole maybe probably closed but possibly [not] opening at some time in the future, the show was moved.
The video is kinda sorta NSFW, for cartoon monster toplessness.

How is it that certain types of cliques are drawn to certain things, even when separated by an ocean? I’d agree that Guided by Voices isn’t exactly mainstream, although I’m not sure it’s exactly nerdy. Is there a substantial overlap between the Nerd Clique and the Indie Scenesters?
I’ll let you be the judge, here’s a sample of GBV:

Bummer, wish I were free to go see them. Although the last album I checked out from Living Colour wasn’t anything special, or at least not on par with their early work, I do very much enjoy their first two albums.
I hope someone out there will get to see them tonight and let me know how it was.

Although her career evidently is not invincible.
Actually, for whatever reason, Love is a Battlefield is the song that popped into my head, but this is more timely.
My arm kinda hurts from the flu shot… dang I’m a wuss.

In honor of installing a new dishwasher today, I present to you King Missile‘s Dishwasher. It’s about a dude, sorta, not a machine, but what are the odds that the band I used yesterday would have a dishwasher related song?! The song audio takes a little while to get going, so be patient.
Enjoy the song, it’s much more entertaining (and cheaper) than purchasing and installing a new dishwasher.

I went down to the library this morning and there were some teens sitting around in the grass in front of the library. One was playing a guitar. I was instantly reminded of King Missile’s Sensitive Artist.
Nothing against the guys, it’s just that some stuff cracks me up for no good reason.

Ok, I admit it, I was stumped for a track today (thus my tardiness past my normal post time). But in a clutch musical situation, it’s hard to go wrong with the Pixies. I contemplated lying and claiming this was a follow up to yesterday’s soundtrack post, but, meh. This was prominently featured in Fight Club though so while the motivation for posting it would have been a lie, its existence on a soundtrack is fact.
P.S. Also included is a special bonus track with Black Francis being forced to explain a joke.

There’s a song toward the end of Inglourious Bastards that was a) good and b) irritatingly familiar. I finally tracked it down (thanks IMDB) and bring it to you. Here. Now. Enjoy! Interestingly enough, the song originally comes from another movie, Cat People.
Also, per the tweet on Sunday, I enjoyed the movie. I did go in with low expectations. I’d been a fan of Tarantino for some time, but after The Car Guy That Couldn’t Die Until He Did or whatever his crap contribution to the Grindhouse project was, I’m was a little less enthusiastic. Kinda like I feel about Diablo Cody after Jennifer’s Body (and Toni Collete is Crazy on HBO).

Alright, I’m used to losing daylight in the morning before work (and eventually any daylight after work), but usually, it’s a slow progression. Seems like this morning was considerably darker than yesterday morning. Happy autumn I guess.

For those of you who might be fans of Pela, I have grim news. They are no more. For those of you who hadn’t heard of the Brooklyn based band, check out the tune and share my disappointment.
p e l a b l o g » Thank you, and good night…...
I have one last Star Wars themed tune. For some unknown reason, this used to freak out an old roommate of mine. For that reason, this track is almost certainly more entertaining to me than anyone else.
Crazy Ewoks.

After yesterday’s Chewbacca song, I started wondering how many Star Wars themed songs there are. I’m not going to try to track them all down, but I though I might post a couple while I was in the mood.
Today’s track is a dance remix of The Imperial March from the original score. Sure, maybe you don’t need the track right now, but it’s Saturday and who knows what you’ll be up to later tonight?

In honor of Kevin Smith‘s stop in Minneapolis last night, I thought I’d dig up an old song that appeared in Clerks for the daily track. As Supernova songs go, Chewbacca is no Math Class, but it’s still fun.

So seven isn’t in the title of Monkey Gone to Heaven, it is screamed repeatedly which I felt counted, particularly since it ties in nicely with having posted Frank Black yesterday.
if man is 5, if man is 5, if man is 5, then the devil is 6, then the devil is 6, then the devil is 6, then god is 7, then god is 7, then god is 7
