It’s no Three Little Pigs, but Green Jelly’s The Bear Song has been on my mind lately and it happened to pop up on random from the Zune so I’ll post the video so all may enjoy it with me.
I didn’t think Manimal was on long enough to warrant translation into any other languages, but here we are, Manimal in French. Skip to about 1:30 to see the amazing 80′s effects.
Sorry, but I couldn’t get this out of my head, so I’m sharing in the hope that, much like the video from The Ring passing on the curse makes you immune to it yourself.
Back in December, I’d wished the animatronic robots at Chuck E. Cheese would learn Dethklok’s Dethday song. Well, I had no idea the Rock-afire Explosion existed at that time. For those of you who are as clueless about them as I was 10 minutes ago, there are some videos from YouTube below. I don’t know the back story on these guys, but they’re animatronic entertainers that perform, well, not necessarily popular music, but well, just check them out for yourself.

The Uptown Bar used to have some great shows “back in the day.” A wildly impressive list of bands that later made it big, I mean BIG. Eventually they dropped the live shows and later tried to pick them up again, but never managed to book much other than generally mediocre local bands.
The Current did a series of well done videos looking back on the heyday of live music at the Uptown. I really can’t say it enough, try to get out there this week before they close. It’s a historical site that may or may not come back. But regardless of whether or not it makes it back, it will never be the same.
How is it that certain types of cliques are drawn to certain things, even when separated by an ocean? I’d agree that Guided by Voices isn’t exactly mainstream, although I’m not sure it’s exactly nerdy. Is there a substantial overlap between the Nerd Clique and the Indie Scenesters?
I’ll let you be the judge, here’s a sample of GBV:
By the way, if I hadn’t mentioned it already, The IT Crowd, Season 3 is available on Netflix‘s watch instantly streaming service now.
