Football (and working from home) explained

I, much like the author of “The Oatmeal,” don’t invest a lot of time in football. This pretty much sums it up for me.

Click the pic or here to get the full web comic about why working from home is both awesome and horrible. Via Gizmodo.

Well, I certainly didn’t expect that…

Wondermark is a generally solid web comic, and the surprise ending is a bit of specialty (like M. Night Shyamalan, except entertaining). But this strip really steps it up, you must, must MUST, click the pic to follow through to the full strip. MUST!!!

When funny isn’t LOL

You ever have the experience where something is technically ha-ha funny, but you don’t actually laugh? It may well be a well crafted, clever joke; you may find yourself obliged to acknowledge it as such. But for some reason it doesn’t actually elicit the elusive LOL.

Here, let me show you what I’m talking about:

What This World Could Use Is a Fountain of Smart

Although I’m not a huge fan of the design of this t-shirt, I do very much agree with the sentiment. I’ll even admit I could use a sip from the fountain of smart from time to time, particularly on a Monday morning.

Dirty Harry meets his match

Well, I’ve got to say, I didn’t see that coming… Click the pic to head over to the Xkcd site to check out more random humor.

I do find myself wondering what the series of events would be that leads to Rain Man being shot at by Dirty Harry.

Christmas babies get the shaft

As xkcd points out in the strip below (and I can agree with based on my 12/22 birthday), folks born on or around Christmas can miss out on some of the attention they might otherwise get on their birthday.

On the other hand, there are some perks too. For instance, I only had to go to school on my birthday once as a kid.

Cats on the internet (not the musical, just the critter)

A couple cat related items came recently. Xkcd illustrates the technical complexity of making you laugh at some silly cat on the internet. The second item is a silly cat on the internet.

See how that ties in?

Fax machines are funny until you have to use one

Were fax machines ever cool? I understand they served a purpose before the days of email and the internet, but I’m unclear as to why they even exist anymore.

Chart of pie for the holidays

tumblr_ktxp1kl7Up1qz6f9yo1_1280I’m pretty sure I’ve seen something like this, if not this very picture before, but it’s still clever and it still makes me laugh.

So, are you a “the pie’s a third eaten” or “there’s 2/3 of the pie left to eat” kind of person?

Although the pie doesn’t look all that tasty, all this talk of pie is making me hungry…

Via this isn’t happiness

Windows 7 reality check via “Basic Instructions”

upgradeWhile pretty much everyone agrees Windows 7 is the best Windows in the history of Windows (which it should be since it’s the latest, right?), Basic Instructions takes a look at why it feels so good to move to the new OS.

1/3 to 1/2 of of the benefit of any new OS is the cleansing powers of a fresh installation.

Click the pic for the full strip.
