Something Shiny

How is it that certain types of cliques are drawn to certain things, even when separated by an ocean? I’d agree that Guided by Voices isn’t exactly mainstream, although I’m not sure it’s exactly nerdy. Is there a substantial overlap between the Nerd Clique and the Indie Scenesters?

Speaking of stuff available on Netflix’s streaming service… The IT Crowd: Season 3″ is now available. I haven’t caught it yet, but look forward to it after seeing the prior two seasons.

For all of you who enjoyed the first season of The IT Crowd, I’m happy to pass along the news that the second season (series?) is now available to stream from Netflix’s Watch Instantly service.

If you haven’t caught the first season (series), that’s still available too.

Yeah, so there really isn’t any relationship between today’s song choice and the post, other than just general geekiness. Sorry.

I’m not sure what the hold up is on the DVD, but it seems like the geek cult favorite The IT Crowd has been on-again/off-again for a couple years for DVD distribution. For you lucky Netflix folks, it’s available now as a watch instantly title.

Ah, Roku box, how do I love thee? Tonight you brought Weirdsville into my home from the fine folks at Netflix. Appropriately titled, it’s a pretty loose plot that serves to string together a series of odd events, people and places.

It’s not great and fell back on the comedy equivalent of punting (use of a midget), but it’s definitely worth checking out if you’ve got the Netflix.

The mailman brought Netherbeast Incorporated earlier today (also from Netflix).  Despite an impressive cast for something I’d never heard of before some random Netflix recommendation, it was only ok. Dave Foley, Judd Nelson, Jason Mewes, and Darrell Hammond (ok, that doesn’t really count as a plus) all have substantial roles, but surprisingly none are the lead. Basically, it’s Office Space meets Interview with a Vampire. It was a great idea, but they just couldn’t quite pull it off.

Getting back to Weirdsville, at this point is Scott Speedman’s career, he’s almost made up for being “that dreamy guy from Felicity.” Almost.
