Yeah, it’s April 1st, the tubes are clogged with crap

I’m not sure why everyone seems obliged to try to get in on April Fool’s day, but it leads to a ton of crap that isn’t funny. So far, the only thing that’s caught my eye was the Living Social deal for Spalami (in Porkland). Check out the promo video below, or just hit their site for details. At this point, runner up is Think Geek’s Angry Bird Pork Rinds. But after the brilliant Tuantaun sleeping bag and iCade of years past, I’m a little disappointed in TG’s showing this year.

ThinkGeek knows what the really important document classifications are

These stamps make me wish I still worked on paper. I suppose I could just stamp my monitor.

Head over to ThinkGeek for the details.

25th Anniversary Voltron at ThinkGeek

Ah… Voltron… a much better toy than a cartoon as I learned when trying to watch old episodes a year or two back. So, don’t waste your money on the DVDs, just get the toy and continue assuming the show was as good as you remembered it to be.

By the way, my favorite bit in the product listing is “1:197 scale replica.” You know, because Voltron is real and is one hundred ninety seven feet tall.

Star Wars Wampa rug at Think Geek

The Wampa made me cry like a baby when I saw Empire in the theater as a kid. I like the idea of having it’s corpse warm my toes on a cold winter’s morning. I’m disappointed to see slave Leia is not included. Perhaps I’ll wait to see if they bundle them at a savings in the future.

Awesome new 4/1 products up at Think Geek

As usual, Think Geek has come up with some great products this year. I’m completely sick of hearing about the “magical” iPad, but this iCade accessory would actually be pretty cool. Click on the picture to go to the product page. Maybe they’ll pull a Tauntaun sleeping bag trick and make it themselves.

Also, check out the canned unicorn meat. Disturbing, but fun.

12-sided Rubik’s Cube: the most nefarious device known to mankind

This makes me want to cry in frustration just looking at it. Never mind the the Hellraiser puzzle box, this will destroy your brain and drive you to madness.

Ages 5 and up.*

*I don’t know the actual age recommendation so don’t sue me if you buy it for a 6 year old and they choke on it.

Unanticipatable and proud of it

I’m normally not a huge fan of Monty Python (having ALL the skits/sketches/movies/etc quoted to me before acutally having seen any of them performed properly will do that); however, I still dig this shirt from ThinkGeek.

P.S. You may have noticed that I swiched back to Grooveshark from Skreemr. My Grooveshark issue turned out to be that my web host uses PHP 4 instead of PHP 5 by default. Forcing PHP 5 cleared things up quite nicely.

Caffeinated Nixie Tubes (the gateway subtance between Pixie Stix and cocaine)

ThinkGeek has taken it upon themselves to cram caffeine into yet another product I wouldn’t think needed it. Yet, I still want it. Sure, it’s $10 plus shipping and fondling for 5 tubes, but I’m sure the test tube shaped containers could be reused for something… right?

From ThinkGeek:

Dr. Timmy sat in his lab contemplating his youth, which grew more distant with every passing thought. Mainly, he reminisced about his favorite childhood candies. One in particular stood out. It was basically a paper tube filled with powder candy (we won’t mention names, but you know what we mean). Suddenly, Dr. Timmy threw back his head and began to laugh. He dashed about his lab, flipping switches and throwing levers. There was a crash of lighting and Dr. Timmy held in his hands a thing of beauty. A test tube filled with powder candy (like he remembered), but with a mad scientist twist: it was now loaded with caffeine. And thus, Caffeinated Nixie Tubes were born.

ThinkGeek’s Phantom Keystroker V2 or “Geek Punker”

Wow, this is kinda evil… a USB device that randomly messes with the user input. Thinkgeek.com is steppin’ it up a notch from their annoy-a-tron.

From ThinkGeek.com:

The Keystroker emulates a keyboard and mouse and periodically makes random mouse movements, toggles caps-lock and types out odd garbage text and phrases. Switches on the side allow you to choose between keyboard garbage typing, caps lock-toggle, annoying mouse movements or all three. An adjustment dial sets the duration between “events”. We recommend you don’t set it too frequently so as to extend the agony. Your hapless co-worker pal will think his computer has been possessed or infected by a destructive virus. As he writhes in anger and furiously dials tech support you can rest easy with a job well done.

If you love a good prank, click the pic for the product page, but be sure to read the legalese:

WARNING
The Phantom Keystroker never hits the return key and it never clicks the mouse button. However you should not use it on anyone’s system who is doing critical work where disruption could cause serious consequences. The Phantom Keystroker is a joke, like any joke you need to use prudence and judgement when executing it. You have been warned!

Retro Mini Handheld NES System

In a testament to ever improving/shrinking/cheapening of technology, you can now cram a classic Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) cartridge into a handheld system that plays the games in all their original glory (albeit with a teeny-tiny screen, although it also has a/v out jacks).

Kinda cool, and at $50, a much better deal than the Jakk’s handheld games if you’ve got some old NES cartridges around.

Original Sega Dreamcast Console For Sold

Ok, ThinkGeek.com managed to find “new in box” Dreamcast consoles and were selling them briefly. I’m not sure which of the following is most amazing:
1) Somewhere there was a large stash of new, never used or opened Sega Dreamcast consoles
2) ThinkGeek priced them at $99.99
3) They sold out
